How to report a lost or found animal.

When you find a dog or cat, one that is remaining at your house for at least 3 days, contact the Pelham Police Department at 635-2411 and give the dispatcher your contact information and a description of the animal.

There are numerous laws governing dogs including "running at large"  but there are no laws for cats other than inoculation for rabies.  The 3 day period does not apply to sick or injured animals. If the animal is sick or injured the animal control officer will pick it up as soon as he is notified.

If you find a cat  or dog lingering around your property.
1. Do not touch the animal because it may not be inoculated for rabies.
2. Do not feed the animal because this will cause it to remain at your house even if it is a pet. It will make your home it's territory if it can find food there.

If you have lost a cat or dog call the Pelham Police and give the dispatcher your contact information as well as a description of the animal. The Animal Control Officer will use this database to cross check animals that have been found.
