CRIMINAL BUREAU

The Pelham Police Criminal Bureau investigates criminal activity that occurs in the town of Pelham or has an effect on the town of Pelham and its citizens.  The majority of cases that are investigated are those that are reported to the department through the patrol division and referred to the detectives for further follow up.  Some of the incidents the criminal bureau has investigated include the following:

  • Robberies

  • Suspicious or Unattended Deaths

  • Burglaries

  • Gambling

  • Homicides

  • Distribution of Narcotics

  • Computer Crime

  • Child Pornography

  • White Collar Crime

  • Bad Checks

  • Sexual Assaults

 Other responsibilities include:

  • Gathering of Criminal Intelligence Data

  • Forensic Evidence Recovery

  • Crime Scene Investigations and interviewing witness and suspects.

  • Background Investigations of Employment Candidates

  • Hostage Negotiations

The criminal bureau works closely with detectives from other police agencies and attends monthly detectives meetings.  Currently, the criminal bureau has two officers assigned to the Essex County Gang Task Force.
