Police Officer Candidates

The Pelham, New Hampshire Police Department is currently seeking police officer candidates. We are a progressive, professional, community oriented Police Department with nineteen full-time officers. The department moved into a new, state of the art facility in August 2003.

Pelham is a town with a diverse population of approximately 13,000 people. It is located on the Massachusetts border with easy access to larger metropolitan areas of Manchester and Nashua, New Hampshire and Lowell and Boston Massachusetts.

Officers patrol an assigned area for the purpose of crime prevention and detection. Successful candidates must have good communication skills and the ability to exercise good common sense and be able to analyze situations quickly and objectively and many times decisions are made under pressure. Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • A United States Citizen

  • Minimum age of 21 years

  • Excellent physical condition

Applicants who meet the basic qualifications are selected on a competitive basis. Each candidate must successfully complete each element of the following:

A written and oral board exam, a physical agility test, a physical exam, an extensive background investigation and criminal record check, a polygraph exam, drug test and be certified or certifiable by the NH Police Standards & Training.

Written test date: April 6, 2008 at Pelham High School.

Physical Agility test date: April 6, 2008 immediately following the written test for successful candidates.

Oral Board dates: April 7 & 8, 2008.

Application deadline: Must have applications in by March 21, 2008.
